Discrimination

The times have changed a bunch since the 70's. Gay rights, marriage or should I say Civil unions and the entire country. I vividly remember my youth where I could get whoever I wanted and if not, if was his lost.

With all the progress there is more Discrimination within the gay community, then from the outside world. I have pretty much been in interracial relationships. The gay community depending on what city, and what event can be very funny. Yeah i am no longer a chicken or today called a twink. I don't fit into the muscle group, bear group, climbing the social ladder, politics, art, drag or silver foxes,. Just a regular gay black guy living life. Friends know that I am gay, but I don't wear a sign, saying look here I am a gay black bottom that love white tops.

Have been in many different situations and groups and there is always the one queen or social elite that thinks (or gives the look) my partner should not be white, what are you doing with him or what is he doing with you. The funniest part is that I have been told  "you dont act gay" what the hell is that? Should I wear some booty cutters and throw my hands in the air? Or should I be very girly? No I'm just being myself.

Many of the clubs, gatherings and events are based around age or categories. I went to Blakes on the park, one weeknight. I came in from the parking entrance. Clicks of folks, mostly the younger crowd. Of course the pretty boys hung together, the every guy wants me group loudly talked, then there was a group of us that just hung around.  Blacks were with blacks, twinks with twinks, young preppy with themselves, and the glamor girls, enough said. I stayed for about an hour with another friend. No conversations were struck with anyone.

Unspoken rule that is if you speak or just say hello, that you might be interested. I have never understood it.

But back to the topic, the gay movement has come along way, but for some reason we as gay people do not want to do what we are asking the straight world to do. Lets all be friends. I could care less if you are a muscle hairy daddy, I just wanted to say hi and meet/make some friends, it does not mean I want to sleep with you. (Well sometimes that was my motive). But I have never had a problem in a straight bar, meeting folks or hooking up, guess I'm a magnet that way. But we have to accept each other before we make demands that the world accept us.
